Neighborhood Watch Update

In light of the events happening in Sanford, FL right now that are focusing on neighborhood watch, I have provided some notes on our particular neighborhood watch program:

  • Focus on suspicious behavior
  • Job is to call police only
  • Build community- get people to work together with police
  • Crime is prevented and controlled by neighborhood involvement
  • No patrolling
  • No weapons

Good radio program regarding neighborhood watch:

August 8, 2011

7:00 PM Vice-President Gail Pucylowski called the meeting to order.  Earl Livingston was Sergeant of Arms.

New business was eliminated tonight, due to the number of guest speakers and the importance of the information they were imparting.

Guest Speakers:

Ginger Corless spoke on the best north-south route for the SunRail.  No funding is available now, but it is expected that with the expansion of Orlando Health Care, monies will be available to bring the rail to the hospital.

Geoff Frame, Orlando Health, which includes South Semoran Hospital, Orlando Regional Hospital, Arnold Palmer Hospital, Winnie Palmer Hospital, M.D. Anderson and Dr. Phillips Hospital, and Pete Sechler, A.E.Com-Campus Planning and Havland Hansen Plan Coordinator, spoke on changes to Orlando Regional.  In the near future, Orlando Regional will be expanding Kuhl Avenue to Kaley Avenue for better traffic flow.   It is also planned to tear down all the old wings and buildings and replace them with new facilities.  Improved drainage into Lake Beauty and sidewalks and benches in that area are planned.  Underground power is now being worked on, with additional work starting in September on hospital expansions.

New Business

It was a great meeting and we invited them back in the future for another update as we were out of time.

Next Meeting: Our next meeting will be September 12, 2011.  Refreshments 6:30 and meeting at 7:00
